What is Williamson Dollars for Scholars?

An independent community organization, supported by but not connected with Williamson Central School.

Local citizens who believe in the potential of our youth, working voluntarily to raise scholarship money and award privately funded sponsored scholarships for Williamson area high school graduates, including home schooled students, who plan to further their education.

How do students apply for scholarships?

Students may log on to the student dashboard and begin to build their student profile at any time. Once the student profile is complete, and scholarships are open for applications, students will be matched to scholarships they are eligible for, and the student can then apply for individual awards. They can match to national scholarships as well as ones given by the local Dollars for Scholars chapter.

How are the scholarships awarded?

Applications are scored anonymously using a points-based system. Academic transcripts, a brief personal statement, personal references, and school and community activities are considered in the judging process. Awards are made on the basis of merit and criteria established by the donors of sponsored scholarships.

How can I help?

By making a donation to the scholarship fund. Any amount will help us to help our students succeed!

        By participating in fundraising activities.

By volunteering as a Chapter board member. Volunteers are always needed and always welcome!

By sponsoring a scholarship. Examples of such awards are honorary or memorial scholarships, scholarships for specific fields of study, recognizing community service, special talents or other criteria established by the sponsor(s). Our local chapter currently awards 17 sponsored scholarships through the generosity of area businesses, organizations, and families.
